Greetings Kankas and Kankies.
Congratulations from The Round Ball in Ankara to Gokhan Emreciksin of ANKARAGUCU on being selected to represent the senior Turkey team tonight against Belarus.
Since his transfer from Bolu a few months ago he has made a big impression at ANKARAGUCU and if he stays with the team for another season at least, then I'm sure we will see more goals from him. He has also been a foil for Bebbe and we should expect more goals from him too as he finds more space up front.
Not since the days of Hakan Keles have we seen a right wing raider of his calibre.
Call me a cynic, but I am wondering how long we can keep the Istanbul wolves at bay when they come calling with a cheque book in their hands !!!
Anyway, I hope he has a good game tonight and I for one will be watching to assess his performance. The match will be on ATV at 8pm.
Incidentally, I think we have to go back a few years to find out the last ANKARAGUCU player who represented the senior Turkey team. Perhaps Maniac Kanka can answer that one ?!
All the best from Eski Kanka Jim
Goalkeeper Serkan has joined up with the national team squad before, albeit just for training and to sit on the bench.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, forgot about that one. Also, Zafer was in the squad for the World Cup in Korea and Japan but he didn't actually start.
ReplyDeleteIt will be interesting to hear from Maniac Kanka when an ANKARAGUCU player actually played.
BattleDamagedKanka
ReplyDeleteI've been a huge fan ever since he joined. Congrats Gokhan.
Well..... it was a disappointment.
ReplyDeleteGokhan Unal and Gokhan Gonul played, but..... our Gokhan didn't !
Not to worry though, he is being `bloodied` and no doubt Mr Terim will give him a start at some time in the future.
However, as Battle Damaged Kanka says, all the kankas are fans of Gokhan and being selected for the national team may well serve to boost his confidence even higher.
he was UMUT BULUT
ReplyDeleteAh yes, Umut Bulut was always Eski Kanka's fav player. But although selected, did he actually play for the senior Turkish team ?
ReplyDeleteUmut Bulut? He never played for the senior Turkey team while he was at Ankaragucu. As far as I can see he has only played one match for Turkey and that was a friendly against Brazil and that was after he left Gucu.
ReplyDeleteHe did however play in a 3-2 victory for Turkish up and comers in something called the Future Cup. That victory was over, you guessed it, northern Britain!
He has also played in plenty of Turkey B matches.
Ahem ahem cough cough ... Northern Britain ?
ReplyDeleteDo you mean that The Shetland Islands have a footie team ??!! Or was it a combination from The Shetlands and The Orkney Islands ??!!
