As reported on another post, This is the designs for the new stadium of Ankaragucu and Genclerbirligi. It is expected to be built by 2013.

If Ankaragucu are to progress then this is a must, a new modern stadium with top facilities will help attract better players and also help Turkey with there Euro Championship or World Cup Bids.

If this goes ahead then i will make sure that i am there for the opening game

Where are they going to find that much room to build in Ankara? I hope they don't put it on the outskirts like Yenikent!

  3. If I remember correctly. It will be in the same vicinity maybe the same place. I believe it said they are going to knock 19 Mayıs down, but I'll have to go back to the article and check.

  4. My memory served me well.

"Mevcut 19 Mayıs Stadı'nın yerine yapacağız."

(We'll build it in place of the current 19 May Stadium.)

And because of the word "orada" in the next sentence it is clear that he means not just as a replacement but actually in the same place.

  6. Will prob be Yenikent Neil where we played some games last season.

The current area will be good news, its in a good area near geclik park which can be upgraded with facilities.

Some bad news tonight on the transfer front, looks like Roman Bednar wont be returning as west brom want to keep him and have given him an extra years contract

That question was in my mind too Neil, but I didn't voice it because I didn't want to believe we would return to 'Hell' ....argggggh !

It's a balls-ache to get there and return, but I'm sure I.Melih Gokcek will be laughing up his kilt at the propect of utilising 'his' stadium for a year, or even longer ...grrrrrrr.

That's shit news that Bednar will not be with us next season. He was one of the few bright sparks in an under-performing team this season.

C'mon Nadeem ..... gimme some good news !!!!

To combat the threat of Eminike perhaps Ankaragucu could sign 'Eski's fav player' Dany from Gaziantep ??!!

    ...... or am I dreaming again ???

Hmmmm .... must remember to buy a new supply of 'Optimism Pills' for August .... Eski says !

  10. Don't get in a huff yet, Eski, about making the drive out there. We don't know that Yenikent will be the option they go for. I'm wondering if they will even try to build it as a rush job. Does anyone remember how little time it took for the Ankara Arena next door to go up? It practically sprung up overnight.

  11. Ah, To offset Nadeem's news about Bednar, here is some good news: Adem Koçak will be with us again next year. Still nothing final on Sestak.

There isn't another option Damon !

Cebeci is too old and 'unsafe'. Also, putting up a 40,000 capacity Stadium in a 'rush' doesn't bear thinking about. Remember your remarks about the New Kayseri Stadium ?!

Also, if it is actually going to be in the same situ as the 19 Mayis Stadium, there is the little matter of demolishion to consider !

I'm sorry to say that the only option which is feasable is ....... 'Hell' !!!

I wouldn't put it past them though. You make the assumption that they will act based upon logic and good sense. That assumption could very well be mistaken.

  14. good news that Kocek is staying, will be interesting to see how the midfield will shape up with Hurriyet and weeks back as the three players all play in the same position

Eski will return to Yenikent when "Hell" freezes over! The long range weather forecast for Ankara says frost on December 10th so that could be Jim's first home game of the season!!

Nice one from Neil the Oracle !!

Speaking to Oz Kanka last night about possible forthcoming trips to 'Hell' and we were muttering words of discontent into our luvvlie yummy Effffesssss. No doubt there will be more mutterings as the mists of uncertainty clear and 'frost thaws' ??!!
