Orduspor Show Ankaragucu how its done off the field ?

http://www.since1910.net/Haber/orduspor-un-kurumsal-yuzu

Took this article from the Anti X website and found it a very interesting read. You may be wondering what has this got to do with Ankaragucu and Genclerbirligi? Well with the current state we are in at the moment it has everything to do with us.

Orduspor are back in the Super Lig after a long absence and they don't intend on just making up the numbers. They have added players like Juan Culio, Bogdan Stancu and ex Ankaragucu striker Fatih Tekke to there squad. But its what they are doing off the football pitch that is very interesting.

Their management are very ambitious and are doing everything they can to bring in extra revenue and grow the clubs name. They had sales days in Ordu where people could buy season tickets, they have their main website in English, an official club magazine, Orduspor supporter cards and a mobile telephone deal that makes the club money too. On top of that they have plans to build a new stadium.

I'm sure you will all agree what the club is doing is nothing short of fantastic and we can only wonder what Ankaragucu would be like if our management had the same ideas. Orduspor have even opened up its own Club Shops while Ankaragucu still lag behind with the one small shop at Tandogan. Not good enough !!

  1. Got to hand it to Orduspor for this. It is amazing what can be done with just a little bit of thinking. I wish them the best but I also wish Genclerbirligi and Ankaragucu try just a little bit harder. It's not rocket science after all, just "Basic Marketing 101".

  2. Hopefully someone from the management is reading this and feeling inspired--but I doubt it.

Yeah. We have been round this buoy many times and still we are cast adift in the backwater of Ankara !

I mentioned many moons ago that Antalyaspor (formed 56 years after Ankaragucu !) have a nice little Club Shop near the Stadium, and you have to be blind to see how much dosh the Big 4 make in their Club Shops.

So, well done Orduspor for showing some business accumen. Hopefully Ankaragucu can show some footie skills and take 3 points from them on Sunday on the field, if not off the field !

Eh, I'm treading very carefully here and hope I amn't offending anyone but here goes.
Visiting Turkey 2-3 times a year for the last 6 years now I've found that the lack of long term planning and apparent failure to see the obvious afflicts not just Ankaragucu but many different businesses in many different industries.
In my own area,Didim, for example, they have built a fabulous gleaming new multi million dollar marina along the coast adjacent to the town.It has capacity for hundreds of yachts of all sizes and dry dock for another few hundred.Yacht club, swimming pool, fancy shops, tennis courts, landscaped grounds and top class boat repair services.Supposedly to attract rich sailors. But incredibly, as soon as you drive out of the marina the road just disintegrates into a deplorable state of huge potholes with piles of rubble stacked along either side of the road. Its been left like this for over a year now,its crazy. They dont seem to realise that any yacht owner who does berth in Didim isnt exactly going to be encouraged to stay (or to return)if this is the first impression.
I've seen this kind of shoot ourselves in the foot type madness regularly in Turkey.Yet obviously there are plenty of clever forward thinking folk in Turkey with good business acumen. But from my experience, still too many of the other.
I'm amazed that Ankaragucu dont have a real proper club shop at the ground itself.I would have thought all Super League teams would have one.And Bank Aysa sides too for that matter.

    Dublin Neil.

No fear of upsetting anyone here with your views Neil.

We are all singing from the same song sheet on that subject, and it's particularly frustrating for us who have been here a good few years that Ankaragucu still hasn't awoken from the dark ages and capitalised on the commercial side of footie in today's world.

As for the state of the roads, I'm sure we all have horror stories to tell on that subject, but let me weigh in with one that springs to mind.

The main road outside my school (Baglar Caddesi) is a very busy road bringing traffic from Kizilay to Gasiosmanpasa and it has been dug up THREE different times in the past year to lay various pipes and cables. As I write this it is in a disgraceful mess !

Back to footie and Ankaragucu is in desperate need of an entrepeneur to come in and shake the Club up to its foundations ! Where is that messiah ??!!

Asked this before but is there no football mad multi millionaire Ankaran business mogul with more money than sense to invest?

    To paraphrase an old saying

    Q. How do you become a millionaire Turkish Football Club owner?

    A. Start off as a billionaire!
