Ankaragucu sign Sidney Cristiano dos Santos !

Otherwise known as Tita from Antalyaspor on a 2 year contract. The player held his first Training Session today with the club. The Brazilian born Forward has previously played for Ankaraspor, and also had a spell with Ankaragucu in 2007.

He has spent the last 3 years at Antalyaspor playing 70 games scoring 16 goals. He brings experience to the side and doesn't use up a foreign space having Turkish Citizenship. Funnily enough his Turkish name is Melih Gokcek.

Tita is the 4th new signing after Sestak, Bekir, and Serdar. Damon informed me that we are also on the lookout for a left back and central defender.

Serdar Kulbilge and Bekir Evgin sign for Ankaragucu !

The transfer window is starting to get busy at Ankaragucu as we have completed the signings of Genclerbirligi goalkeeper Serdar Kulbilge on a 3 year contract, and Bugasspor goalkeeper Bekir Evgin on a four year contract. These signings all but sound the end of Stefan Senecky and Ozden Ongun's Ankaragucu careers.

Serdar in particular is a fantasric signing, he is an experienced goalkeeper who has played for Bursaspor, Fenerbahce, Kocaliespor and Genclerbirlig. It also means we dont use up a foreign space as Senecky was doing and allows us to bring someone else.

Its been reported we are also trying to sign Gauthier Kanga Akale from RC Lens, he is an Ivory Coast winger with a lot of experience and skill

Im looking forward to hearing what the blog has to say about Serdar, as said i doubt Oz Kanka and the Gencler Kankas will be happy about this.

Roguy Meye and Tonia Tisdel return to Ankaragucu !

The close season so far has been very quiet as far as Ankaragucu are concerned. Stanislav Sestak as mentioned has signed a three year deal and young Bugasspor goalkeeper Bekir has signed for the club. Apart from that no deals have been done as of yet.

As you all know Hurriyet Gucer and Theo Weeks have returned to the club and will both be welcome additions to the midfield. Two other players have also returned in Roguy Meye and Tonia Tisdel. Meye is a forward who has played a handful of games, Tonia is a winger and yet to make an appearance.

Roguy Meye signed for the club from Ankaraspor nearly two years ago, but only managed two goals both in cup games since signing. Last season he was sent on loan to Paris FC. If Meye can recapture the form he showed at Ankaraspor and with the Gabon national team then we have a very good player on our books. He needs to be given a chance to show what he can do. He has power, pace and can score goals, everything we need as the video below will show. He looks a different player to the one who has played for Ankaragucu.

Tonia Tisdel is a 19 year old Liberian winger and friend of Theo Weeks. He was brought to Turkey by Ankaraspor and has had loan spells at Karsiyaka and Mersin just last season. He helped Mersin to promotion to the Turkish Super Lig. From what I have seen he has lots of pace and skill and will be a great addition to the team. Still young and has his best years ahead of him.

We may not be setting the headlines for bringing in new players but these four players will get there chance under Mesut Bakkal and he can bring the best out of them. Looking forward to seeing the players back in training on Monday.

Stanislav Sestak signs 3 Year Contract !!

At last some good news for the Kankas of Ankaragucu. Our top Goalscorer with 15 goals last season Stanislav Sestak has signed a 3 year contract with the club. The clubs agreed a fee of £2.9 Million for the Slovakian striker.

The last few weeks the deal has been on and off, and then back on again. Sestak's agent confirmed last night the deal was agreed and paperwork had just to be completed. The Turkish press and Anti X have both confirmed the deal today which is a massive boost to Ankaragucu.

Sestak was on loan last season from Bochum, and won the hearts of the Ankaragucu fans with some fantastic performances and goals. It wasnt just his ability that impressed. It was his commitment as well.

Welcome home Sestak

Doom and Gloom in Ankara

Greetings Kankas and Kankies.

The Ankara Technical Directors (or Team Coaches) 'Merry-go-Round' article in The Hurriyet this morning made sad reading. Too many 'quick fixes' and not enough stability ! btw, you will be pleased to hear that I'm not going to list them all here !!

That was the point I was making to Mesut Bakkal about players when he visited my school recently, and he, better than anyone, knows it also applies to Technical Directors !

On the subject of Fuat Capa, it is interesting to note that he was Coach of Gencler in the 2007/2008 Season for only 5 matches. Not a statistic to fill Gencler supporters with optimism for the new season. Another CavCav quick fix ??!!

On another subject, and more doom and gloom. Sestak's future at Ankaragucu is in serious doubt after Bochum made it known that Ankaragucu has not paid his loan fee yet. More ammunition for FIFA to fire at Ankaragucu in addition to all the other financial irregularities !

Is there any good news on the horizon me wonders ??!!

Has Gencler lost its coach already?

The Anatolian news agency are reporting that Genclerbirligi coach Giray Bulak has left the club just a couple of weeks after signing a one-year deal. The Anatolian story doesn't say much just that "according to information received" he has left after differences of opinion over transfers.

Meanwhile it also seems that we won't be a getting a player from Elephant Tooth Seaside who had agreed to join the team but his wife didn't want to leave her home.

These sort of stories used to make me angry, now I can only laugh at the utter madness of it all.

On the other hand I sure am glad I didn't write up a long backgrounder piece on the new coach

Thanks to Spine for finding the story
