Bandirmaspor 1-0 Ankaragucu match report !

Just take a look at the background in the picture, not a single Bandirmaspor fan in sight. It tells you everything you need to know about Bandirma. A small club, who have a small budget and no fans. and yet Ankaragucu have failed to beat them in their last two meetings.

Team - Bayram Olgun, Metin Aydin, Serhat Aykuz, Selim Teber, Mehmet Tasci, Serhat Gulpinar, Muhammed Gonulacar, Kaan Kanak, Mehmet Erdem, Mehmet Cakir, Umut Nayir

Subs - Gokhan Akkan, Volkan Geyik, Orhan Evci, Harun Aydin, Bilal Gundogdu, Omer Yalcin, Onur Atasayer

The one thing that stands out when you look at that Ankaragucu team is the lack of pace. The team is made up of some of the slowest players in Turkey. The older players are on their last legs, and the young players don't have any turn of pace in their game. Losing Emre Tasdemir and Levent Kale has been a huge blow for Ankaragucu who have become far to predictable and one paced.

After last weekends dreadful performance in Bandirma for the last league game of the season, we expected Ankaragucu to lift their game for the playoff match. But instead an even poorer performance followed.

The teams went in 0-0 at half time, and it took until the 60th minute for the deadlock to be broken. Unfortunately for the large traveling support, it wasn't for Ankaragucu. Instead it was Hakki Ismet who gave Bandirma the lead.

Things could have been a lot worse when Timur Kosovali had the opportunity to make it 2-0 Bandirma with 2 minutes remaining. But Bayram Oglun saved the penalty to keep Ankaragucu in the tie.

Both teams meet again on Tuesday at the 19 Mayis stadium in Ankara. The fans will be there despite the disgusting TFF appointed 1630 kick off time, will the players turn up? Or will it be another disappointing result for Ankaragucu?

  1. That penalty save might just be the turning point of the tie.
    Here's hoping!

  2. Thanks for the report Nadeem, but two things to say about it .....

1st - The 2nd Leg is on Tuesday KO 4.30pm and not Wednesday.

2nd - I think you do the Bandirma supporters an injustice. From the clip I saw of last week's league match, parts of the Stadium are closed with the supporters in the area opposite Protocol. They have quite a large support for a 2nd Division team and no doubt they will bring a few bus loads down the road on Tuesday !

However, yes, a disappointing result. I was hoping for an 'away' goal to give us an even playing field on Tuesday, but we now start a goal down and the pressure is on Ankaragucu to break them down in the 1st Half and not leave it late in the 2nd Half.

Please don't let's end up with an effin penalty shoot-out !!!

  3. Don't know why I said Wednesday when I fine well knew it was Tuesday lol

Bandirma average about 3000 fans which I suppose is decent for that level. But that doesn't hide the fact we should be destroying these teams

Nady I totaly agree with your critics about the team strucure.
The slowest team in the world and none of the Managers recognize this problem. İn addition one of the few fast player Hasan Ayaroğlu is always out of 18.
We definitely need tooooo much luck to qualify. Volkan

  5. I agree Volkan. Hasan should be playing every week. But players like Volkan Yilmaz, Omer Yalcin and Mehmet Erdem all get there chance ahead of him
