Oz Kanka on the Turkish Football Weekly

Hear me rabbiting on about Anaragucu's hassles on the lastest Turkish Football Weekly podscast. Do I make any sense? I'll leave that up to you.

I think I'm on about half way though the webcast.

  1. What is Ata going on about around the 48 minute mark?

He says something about the cash flow problems having to do with a lack of Gucu fans coming out for the matches. He then says Gecekondu will show up and Jim will show up and Gencler fans show up for Gencler matches.

He's got it all almost completely ass backward. Attendance at Gucu matches tends to be much higher than at Gencler matches. And the lowest attendance we've recently experienced is when Gecekondu DIDN'T show up because the Gokceks priced the tickets wayyyy out of their reach.

C'mon, Ata. When it comes to Ankara, ask the questions, and let Chris do the talking.

  2. Sorry, Ata. I reflected on the matter a bit more and just realized that before I dish out any criticism, I should express my appreciation. The fact that you are even doing such a podcast is laudable. Keep up the good work.

  4. A little late with the response, but I think you know how that saying goes.

What I tried to say was that 19 Mayis stadium doesn't seem to have a good amount of people coming in, except when the big 3 Istanbul clubs come to town. There are fans who will show up for the matches but it just doesn't seem to balance out the books. Gencler fans will show up for the derbies, but those derbies never seem to sell out the stadium. Speaking of the books, they need to reveal those, but knowing this is Turkey, that ain't happening. I wouldn't be surprised if someone is embezzling money from Ankaragucu.

I admit I don't know too much about the Ankara football culture, why do you all think I frequent this site? :)

Anyways, I thank you all for the support and look forward to having more of you all on.
