Heracles Almelo 2-2 Ankaragucu !

Another Pre Season draw for Ankaragucu as we threw away a 2-1 lead to draw 2-2 with Dutch side Heracles. There were three goals in the first ten minutes, Heracles scored after 2 Mins thanks to Vejinovic. But a good fightback by Ankaragucu saw us go into the lead thanks to Ergin Keles and Turgut Dogan Sahin. A goal in first half injury time from Kwame Quansah saw Heracles draw level.

Ankaragucu fielded two different teams, one for the first half and one for the second half.

1st Half Team :

Serdar

Ugur Rajnoch Kehler Ishak

Turgut Adem Theo Kagan Tonia

Ergin

2nd Half :

Serdar

Guven Ediz Aydin Murat

Jose Hurriyet Umut Tita

Ilhan Vittek

Tita picked up an injury and had to be replaced with Santiago Vizio.

Gronigen 1-1 Ankaragucu !

Last night in Holland ended all square and a good result for us as Gronigen are a good side. We took the lead through Turgut Dogan Sahin after Bayram had saved a penalty as well. Looked like we were heading for the win until Gronigen equalised in the 94th Minute.

In transfer news we have had Santiago Vizio and Jose Augusto Sardon two Argentinian youngsters on trial, Both have impressed and it looks like we will sign Santiago. Dejean Kehler has also been on trial from Legia Warsaw. He is a Slovenian Centre Half and played last night as well.

Team Line Up

Bayram

Ugur Rajnoch Kehler Ishak

Santiago Adem Theo Jose

Ergin Turgut

Subs: Bilal, Kagan, Murat, Tonia, Gokhan

Still none of the big names like Vittek, Sestak, Tita, Serdar, Hurriyet have played. In regards to the new players, im happy we are looking at players but hardly the big names the Gokceks promised.

Kicked out of 19 Mayis

We have no idea when the league will start. The Super Cup has been cancelled. Genclerbirligi have decided not to sell any kombine tickets for section C of Maraton where we normally sit and now it isn't even clear whether any matches at the 19 Mayis Stadium will be allowed.

According to a report by Klasspor today, the Federation sent something or other to the Ankara governor's office and to the Gençlik Spor İl Müdürlüğü that due to the facilities at the stadium being crap no one can play there.

The letter says that there aren't enough entrance turnstiles (true), the lighting system is rubbish (seems okay to me) and that the women's referees changing rooms and toilets need to be fixed up (I don't know but it wouldn't surprise me).

I could add a couple of more things to the list. The stadium is falling apart, the massive fences between the fans and the field, the fact that there is an asphalt running track around the field, that the fans toilets are crap, that we can't have a beer and a fag whilst watching the match, that my coins keep on being taken off me whilst the Istanbul fans manage to get flares into the game, that the last time I saw a decent game from Genclerbirligi was circa 2005 and that even if we are playing well Fenerbahce have probably bought the match in any case.

FSM I'm depressed.

As for season tickets. I'm going to wait and see and buy mine some time after I'm back in the country in mid-August... that's if there is a league next year.

Ankaragucu 0-3 Sporting Lisbon !

Well Ankaragucu were brought crashing back to earth as we lost 3-0 to Portuguese side Sporting. After our 15-0 win yesterday the team found the step up in class difficult as dreadful defending and goalkeeping saw us loose our latest game in Holland.

A first half striker from Helder Postig and Pentaly from Ricky put Sporting 2-0 up and another penalty this time form Rubio made it three. Ozgur Cek and Ozden Ongun were at fault for the penalties and the defence left Postiga unmarked at a corner.

Our defence continues to be a problem and unless we bring in 2 Quality players before the season starts then it could be another difficult season.

Team Line Up

Ozden

Ugur Rajnoch Aydin Ozgur

Turgut Adem Theo Tonia

Fatih Ergin

Subs: Bayram, Ediz, Bilal, Ishak, Santiago, Jose, Gokhan

SHOCK: Genclerbirligi's Hurşut vows "never again"

Twitter message just in from Hurşut Meriç, who only starting twittering a day or so ago. Having asked why Gencler isn't going to appear in the next version of EA Sports' Fifa franchise. (It was all the TFF's fault, they refused to give the rights for some stupid reason)

Üzüldüm şimdi. Fifa 2011^de Gençlerbirliğini şampiyon yaptım. Ardından Şampiyonlar Ligi'ni aldık. SONUÇ ; Fifa'dan emekli oldum :)

Yep, just like Little Oz Kanka Matthew, Hurşut took Gencler all the way to the top and now Father Christmas has no idea what to get for Hurşut or Matthew

THE DRAGON'S REVENGE !

Greetings Kankas and Kankies.

Maybe my 'dragon' looked into her crystal ball to find the dates for the TSYD (Ankara Sportwriters Cup) and then booked our hotel in Bodrum to ensure that we were there and not in Ankara !! As you all know, dragons are dangerous and never more so than when they seek revenge, but I'm not Bilbo Baggins !!!

Maybe it was a coincidence that she booked the hotel whilst the TSYD Cup was scheduled to play ? However, I doubt that ! And ..... more importantly, why wasn't I consulted ??!!

The bottom line is that I will miss my first TSYD Cup Competition for many years. Boo hoo hoo ...... tears of sadness cascading down my face !

So, we will have to rely on Maniac or Battle Damaged Kankas reporting the matches if they are in Ankara when the matches take place on 30/31 July. Or, our 'all seeing and all knowing' oracle Bellshill Kanka in Weegieland, ie, Glasgow !

Ankaragucu and Gencler wil be in 'the hat' but I don't know the other 2 teams yet. I would guess that 'new boys' Samsun will receive an invite and possibly Kayseri, or, dare I say it ......... Ankaraspor ..... arrrrrrgh !!!!

As always, watch this space for further.

Meanwhile, we still await the League Fixture List !!!

All the best from Eski Kanka Jim ..... who is afraid of dragons !!

Swarovski 2-0 Ankaragucu

Our first pre season match got off to a disappointing start as we lost 2-0 to Austrian Amateur side Swarovski.

Key players like Sestak, Sapara and Vittek were all missing, but the defence continues to be a weak point in our team. With just under 3 weeks till the new season starts Mesut will be hoping to add a couple of quality defenders.

The team line up for tonight's match

Bayram

Guven Ediz Aydin Ishak

Adem
Kagan Weeks

Turgut Tonia

Keles

Subs used: Rajnoch, Bilal, Gokhan Erdogan, Ugur Ucar, Hurriyet, Ozgur Cek

These games are used to get the players fit and try different systems, should be playing better than we did tonight. A lot of work still to go until the season starts.

In other news, its been said tonight that the agent of Stefan Senecky met with Fenerbahces legal advisor before our game, he then went on to be sent off. Surprise surprise as we have said this on here for weeks.

The latest football scandal

You'd have to be deaf and blind not to have found out by now of the massive wave of arrests on Sunday that rocked the Turkish football world.

This from the Hurriyet Daily News

Fenerbahçe Sports Club President Aziz Yıldırım was first to be detained in a probe into match-fixing allegations in the Turkish football league, Anatolia News Agency reported.

Police officers from the Organized Crime Department raided residences after carrying out surveillance regarding the match-fixing allegations.

Forty-nine people were detained in the operation, including Sivasspor Club President Mecnun Odyakmaz, Giresunspor Club President Ömer Ülkü and former president Olgun Peker, Diyarbakırspor former president Abdurrahman Yakut, Fenerbahçe Vice President Şekip Mosturoğlu, Mersin İdmanyurdu Club Vice President Beşir Acar, and Fenerbahçe's new transfers Sezer Öztürk and Emenike.

Also caught up was Genclerbirligi players Serdar Kulbilge (now at Ankaragucu), Mahmut Boz and Serkan Çalik. The first two have been taken in for questioning. The third is in Germany at the moment.

It's all early days yet and I can't find any news of exactly what they are alleged to have done but the papers are saying that the March 7 Genclerbirligi - Fenerbahce match is one of those "suspicious" matches. We lost that one 2 - 4.

You can see our report here

I really don't know what to say except that if the Gencler players are guilty then I hope they all get lengthy bans.

Ankaragucu involved?

Even though no Ankaragucu players have been named in the scandal, the papers are all saying that one of the other suspicious matches was the 6-0 drubbing that Ankaragucu received on May 15 this year.

This match had "dodgy" written all over it. Check out Sir Eski's report (and don't forget to read the comments).

What on earth happens now is anyone's guess but we could well see Fenerbahce stripped of their title and relegated to the Bank East of Europe League where they would start with minus 10 points. Other teams could follow them. All up, a mess.

Amid all this depressing news I did laugh in the schadenfreude style to a comment on the Daily News report by a fellow called Emre Deliveli. In it he was referring to the time the Fener fans erupted with joy after it was announced at the stadium that Besiktas had scored a goal against Bursa which would have meant Fener would be champions a year and a bit ago. A few minutes later it was realised that Besiktas hadn't scored and Bursa were the champions.

If they are stripped of the championship this year, they'll be the only club who has celebrated 19 times for 17 championships:):)

Edited on Monday 4 July to save Oz Kanka from embarrassment.
