Ankaragucu vs Genclerbirligi Match Preview !

I mentioned to Jim the other night that every week a couple of days before our game i would do a match preview. What better way to start with the Ankara Derby ?? Its a massive games for both clubs who find themselves in a relegation fight.

Last Season the Ankara debry finished 1-1 with both teams winning in there away games. Gencler won the oppening game 2-1 with goals from Mustafa Pektemek and Kahe, with Barbaros Barut scoring Ankaragucus only goal. In the second game a 1-0 win for Ankaragucu thanks to Darius Vassell scoring the games only goal.

This season Gencler won in the Ankara Cup on penalties after a boring 0-0 draw. They won the first league game 1-0 and we drew 1-1 in the cup. So its fair to say Gencler have had the upper hand on the derby matches.

After last weeks performance, Ankaragucu will want to win this game and give the fans something to cheer about again. The news coming from Ankaragucu tonight as we heard from Damon, is that Robert Vittek will make a return to the team. No doubt this would be a huge boost for us. It has also been confirmed this will be Umit Ozats last game in charge. Names been mentioned to take over are Jurgen Rober and Mesut Bakkal. Ankaragucu are also set to welcome back Stefan Senecky and Michael Kulkowski to the team as well.

As for Genclerbirligi, they have been boosted by Mustafa Pektemeks return to the team, one of Turkeys best young players. Like Ankaragucu they havennt had a good season but are capable of winning on there day. Its a tough one to call but im going for Ankaragucu 3-2 Genclerbirligi with a good attacking game.

  1. I'm so looking forward to it. After being shut out of the BJK match, it will be good to head out to the stadium again. Hoping for good weather.

If Vittek does play, my guess is that he will come out as a sub in the second half. And where is Bednar by the way? I don't suppose Cerny will be match fit.

  2. I wish i could be there Damon. Cant wait to return although it looks to be next season.

Yeah i think your right he will be sub, Cerny i also agree as hes not been training with us. Bednar is same as what i was saying the other day, so many players brought in and not used

  3. A brave shout by Nadeem to call it 3-2 to Ankaragucu.

Based on the scores over the past few years I don't expect it to be anything other than a very tight finish with a draw or a one goal advantage to either team.

It's called 'sitting on the fence' !!!

As Damon said, look forward to being back in the Stadium again and enjoying the atmosphere.

  4. Want a laugh this wet and chilly Friday ??

Saw this in The First Post ......

Meanwhile Talksport claims that Arsenal's underperforming pair Andrey Arshavin and Nicklas Bendtner could be on their way to Turkey at the end of the season.

Apparently Galatasaray are preparing to make a £20 million offer for the disappointing duo, with the Gunners likely to agree to the deal. The Turkish club have come into the money recently, thanks to some big sponsorship deals, and for reasons known only to themselves they see Arshavin and Bendtner as the players around which to build a title-winning team. Good luck.

Ho ho ho ha ha ha ..... hope they do it. I'd love to see 'the under-performing' pair try their luck with some of the 'stoppers' in the Turkish League.

Still laughing ..... hee hee hee

If this was a game in Italian football between two teams in these league positions it would certainly be a draw and I reckon thats what we're looking at here too.0-0 at half time and 1-1 at the end.
