Ankaragücü are heading towards dark days again unless Mehmet Yiginer or Murat Agcabag pull off a miracle and lift the transfer ban while paying the current players their owed wages.
Mehmet Yiginer and Murat Agcabag who was Vice President for the club are now fighting for control of the club with both making promises to take the club forward and resolve the current financial issues.
Just before the winter break İsmail Kartal was sacked and replaced with Bayram Bektas. Bayram was promised that the transfer ban would be lifted and he would be able to bring in new players. Unfortunately to date with only 2 weeks remaining that hasn’t happened and Yiginer has failed so far to lift the ban.
The Ankaragücü squad are in Antalya at the moment for their winter training camp and there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the futures of the current squad. So far, Lanre Kehinde has moved to Denizlispor, Anton Putsila to Altay, Erdem Sen back to Portugal while Youness Mokhtar and Johannes Hopf have terminated their contracts due to unpaid wages.
There are also reports that El Kabir is unhappy at the club due to failed promises to pay his salary and offer a new contract. Dja Djedje has been paid but the club could look to sell their prized asset in order to raise funds.
Thibault Moulin is also reportedly unhappy due to unpaid wages while Thievy Bifouma is a target for EPL side Brighton.
The club also have Nduka Ozokwu, Cebrail Karayel and a couple of other players in trial which is worrying as they haven’t played football in 1-3 years. Ousmane Ndiaye, Ivo Pinto and Nicola, Aydin Karabulut and Nicola Lombaerts have all been linked with moves to the club if the transfer ban is lifted.
Mehmet Yiginer has done his job in helping Ankaragücü return to the Super Lig but if he can’t pay his players and lift the transfer ban it’s time to hand over the reigns to someone who will. Murat Agcabag has already been giving the green light bun Arif and Harun who I trust both their opinions.
Ankaragücü return to league action next weekend against Galatasaray and have not a hope in hell of getting anything from that game with all these distractions and players leaving while the rest unsettled.
We have been around this buoy before under the Gokcek regime and remember how long it took Ankaragucu to return from the 2nd League back to their rightful position in the Super League.
ReplyDeleteIf this isn't resolved before the window closes in 2 weeks time then we can be certain of another return to the Championship League, and we know from experience how difficult it is in that League.
For the time being, all we can do is hope and pray that Mehmet Yigner can pull a rabbit out of the hat like he did before !!!
There is one piece of good news at the moment, and from recent posts on fb it looks like the new Eryman Stadium is ready. However, we are still waiting on official confirmation of that piece of long overdue news to be released !
