Turkey continues on its run. Bloody amazing. Yet again Terim staves off execution with a lucky last minute goal.
As soon as the match went to penalties it was clear that Turkey was going to win. One side had fear in their hearts, the other side had belief.
Many of the Kankas were down at the Red lion Club to watch the match and Zagreb Kanka you will be pleased to know that Spine was wearing a Croatia shirt which he bought from a trip to your wonderful country last year.
After the match I quickly went home, grabbed my camera, and then sought out some of the scenes near my house.
Oz,
ReplyDeleteIt must be exciting to be in Turkey and have the games at viewable times. I remember the buzz of the 2002 World Cup and I'm sure it's similar there now.
Reuters have an amusing headline for their Croatia-Turkey wrap
I haven't seen a minute of the action live here because the games start at something like 4am and the quarter finals onwards are only shown on Setanta.
I would laugh if Turkey get up against Germany with a last minute goal :)
Congratulations!You won!We are going home. :-(
ReplyDeleteYesterday the all Croatia was crying!
Driving through the streets it was like Zagreb died.
Your friend,
Zagreb Kanka
I believe, as non-believer, which was Allah Al Muhaymin (One who protects) to sign three goals against Sweden.
ReplyDeleteI believe, as non-believer, that it was Allah Al Mughith (He who helps) scagliare the coup that has humiliated Croatia.
I believe, as non-believer, that it was "Allah Akhbar!" (One who is the biggest) to resound in the minds and hearts of goalkeeper Rustù yesterday evening, while Croatia falliva three penalties.
The dream of becoming European at least playing soccer.
We want Turkey in Europe as our brothers.
Thanks to Fatìh Terìm.

ReplyDeleteManiac Kanka says it so well and in only one sentence !!!
ReplyDeleteWell, irrespective of the result against Germany, Fatih Terim will surely receive the Turkish equivalent of a British Knighthood and then he can be MY equal !!!!
is that not the same girl in photos from both nights?
ReplyDeleteI think so. I only realised it after downloading the shots.
ReplyDeleteWow, I didnt realize it was legal to drive without seatbelts there!?! A quite impressive group of photos you have collected, (is that mrs. oz in the pink?) Anyway, as it is the eve of Turkey vs Germany, i am off to watch the game in Auburn, Sydney(little Turkey) at 4am before work and will be wearing my ankara genclerbirligi jersey which was thrust upon me during my brothers last visit. Good luck. P.S. I thought Ankara Football was a rugby league sight! Is there a ankara tigers!
ReplyDeleteoz kankas brother.
Good to see you comment here Brother Oz Kanka. By the way, I didn't "thrust" the Genclerbirligi shirt on you, you asked for it!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the match in Auburn mate.
As for Ankara Tigers, er no... not yet anyway.
Greetings Brother Oz Kanka. Tigers are in short supply here, but sad to say we have Leopards if that is any help ??!!
ReplyDeleteOn a sad note, I see that my fav team, Essendon Bombers, are not having a good season. What's the latest from that league ?
