Ankaragucu 0-1 Fenerbahce - Match Report

Faruk Koca made another promise midweek that Ankaragucu would win this match, but in usual fashion his promise failed to come true. The defeat is no shame for Ankaragucu as Fenerbahce are a good team, but Faruk through his Ankaragucu presidency has made so many failed promises and this is another one.

Team - Rafal, Kitsiou, Uros, Mert, Mujakic, Tolga, Djokanovic, Efkan, Renaldo, Moourtan, Ali Sowe

Subs - Bahadir, Atakan, Hayrullah, Hanousek, Cem, Pedrinho, Ali Kaan, Tasos, Rodrigues, Bajic

A sold out crowd turned up at Eryaman to cheer Ankaragucu on but unfortunately the team gave them nothing to cheer about.

Fenerbahce dominated the first half but Ankaragucu did well to limit them the amount of chances. Fred and Szymanski both went close from just outside the box.

At the other end of the pitch, Efkan set up Cephas who saw his shot saved by Irfancan and minutes later Efkan set up Ali Sowe who shot wide when he should have done better.

Just before half time Edin Dzeko had a great chance for Fenerbahce but he somehow put the ball wide of the post from yards out.

Into the second half and Fener nearly took the lead through Dzeko within 2 minutes of the restart but for a great save from Rafal. A minute later Tadic had a good chance but his shot went wide.

Dzeko was at the heart of the action again a few minutes later as he set up Osei Samuel who was left unmarked and the English wing back smashed the ball into the top corner to make it 0-1. Poor defending from Mujakic playing in an un natural position at left back.

Tadic had a chance to finish the game on the 67th minute but he headed just wide of the post. Fenerbahce also had a penalty shout turned down by the referee.

Into the last minute and Ankaragucu had a penalty shout against Hanousek and replays showed it was a clear penalty. The whole Bein Sports presenters agreed and the referee didnt even check with VAR. Again we see the power of the Istanbul clubs!!

Ankaragucu didnt embarrass themselves with the performance, but Kafkas Tolunay set the team up very negatively. Mujakic at Left back in an un natural position is where we lost the goal. His two left back signings Alper and Hanousek were sitting on the bench.

Morutan is also wasted out on the wing. He now has a couple of weeks to get the team up to speed and we should hopefully see Gary Rodrigues come into the starting line up which will allow Morutan to move into a more central role for the game away to Sivasspor.
