GENCLERBIRLIGI SEE RED AND LOSE THE PLOT !!!

Greetings Kankas and Kankies.

I was only able to watch the 1st half last night due to a clash of KO times with the Ankaragucu match.    Therefore, this report will be sketchy.

Gencler more or less shot themselves in the foot with TWO red cards against a very efficient team vying for promotion to the super league this season.

No surprise therefore that Gencler only had one shot on target in the entire match as opposed to the opposition who had 9   !!

Bandirmaspor          4                    GENCLERBIRLIGI              1

Team – Cetin, Wu, Babacan, Nzaba, Yasin, Enes, Cagiran, Kayode, Amilton, M. Yatabare and Erturk

Substitutes – Demir, Rodrigues, Cek, Karakullukcu and Akabueze

It started to go pear-shaped for Gencler as early as the 8th minute when a cross came in from the right with the ball being deflected by a defender straight to Djitte who headed in at the far post with Cetin out of position and unable to make an attempted save.

7 minutes later and Gencler was down to 10 men when Wu made a studs-up challenge on a Bandirma player.    The referee immediately produced a yellow card, but was called to the VAR screen before the free kick was taken.    He then returned to the field of play and showed a RED card to Wu who can have no complaint at the decision.

5 minutes into time added on in the first half and Bandirma snatched the 2nd.   From a free kick on the right, the ball was curled into a crowded box and Davas was first to it to send a bullet of a header past Cetin.

The 2nd half was only 10 minutes old when Nzaba was shown a RED card.

Bandirma then added to their score in the 60th minute through Davas and then added a 4th 10 minutes later through Bobadilla.

Amilton scored a consolation penalty goal for Gencler.

On the back of this result Gencler slip from 3rd in the league to 8th and their bright start to the season is now a dim memory   !!

Next up for Gencler is a home match next Saturday against 5th top Manisa and another chance for Gencler to put their season back on track.

As always, watch this space for the outcome.

All the best from Eski Kanka Jim
