ANKARAGUCU - A NEW ERA UNDER HANS PETER BRIEGEL

Greetings Kankas and Kankies.

Hans Peter Briegel has signed up to be the new ANKARAGUCU coach, with long serving Club Captain, Hakan Kutlu, as his assistant.

There can be no doubting his credentials and Cemal Aydin should receive praise for making this appointment.

Hans Peter Briegel is a household name in Germany and is well know around the world by footie fanatiks. The now 51 year old started his playing career at home town club Kaiserslautern and was also a regular member of the German national team during his career. He also playing in Serie A for Verona and Sampdoria.

He began his managerial career with German 2nd Division clubs before returning to Kaiserslautern as Sporting Director. He then moved on to coaching the national teams of Albania and Bahrain.

Those of you with long memories will remember that he was assistant coach at Besiktas and coach at Trabzon for short periods.

So, The Round Ball in Ankara welcomes Mr Briegel to Ankara and we hope that his stay at ANKARAGUCU will be long and successful !

We also hope that Mr Briegel will be able to attend the Kankas Bar-B-Q tomorrow.

All the best from Eski Kanka Jim

  3. Ahem.... Ahem.... may I direct your attention to the Hurriyet this morning (Saturday).

There you will see Mr Briegel with a pen in his hand, and he's not using it to sign autographs !!!

I say again..... well done Cemal Aydin for making a `sensible` appointment as Coach.
