HIBERNIAN - GOOD NEWS AND BAD NEWS

Greetings Kankas and Kankies.

A good weekend for Hibernian Ladies.

They kept their sights firmly focused on retaining their Premiership League Trophy with a great win against Arsenal North by 6-0.

Kim Little scored her 12th goal in 8 starts this season, and if she keeps this up, may well find herself called up into the mens first team !!!

Not so good was the news that West Bromwich Albion have made an official approach for the Hibs manager, Tony Mowbray. Talks are in progress between the 2 parties and everyone connected with Hibernian FC will be praying that Tony rejects their offer.

No offence intended to WBA, but I feel that it would not be a good career move for Tony when you compare the ambitions and potential of both clubs !!

Watch this space for further from me, or perhaps Hibbie Kanka has more information.

All the best from Eski Kanka Jim

  1. It has been confirmed today (13 October) that Tony Mowbray has joined West Bromwich Albion.

Sad news indeed for the players and all Hibbies everywhere.

He has been a successful manager and has taken what was an average mid-table team in 2003 to the brink of achieving trophies. He has also restored the pride in following this great club.

Season ticket sales records were broken last season and again this season which shows that `the proof of the pudding is in the eating` !

I suppose there is never an ideal time to leave a club and I am not about to criticise his timing. After all, he has his own career to think about and he obviously feels that the time is right to move on.

However, as I have said before, I don't consider a move to WBA from Hibs as an upwards move. Having said that, I wish him success in his new appointment.

As most of you know, the nickname for WBA is The Baggies, and we have Baggie Kanka Dave in Iran who might have something to say if he reads our blog !!

Moving on....... it is the first Edinburgh derby of the season on Sunday and I look forward to a `happy` report from Hibbie Kanka Athole next week.
