A TRIBUTE TO MUMMY KANKIE CARMEL

Greetings Kankas and Kankies.

It is with sadness that we say..... Au Revoir ........ to Mummy Kankie Carmel today as she jets off to Austria, Hungary, The Chek Repupic and Germany before heading back Down Under to Oz Land.

Mummy Kankie was a breath of fresh air in Buyuk Baskent and I have never seen Oz Kanka so well behaved. Perhaps she should visit more often ??!!

I am sure there are few, if any, visiting parents who can boast that they have been to 19 Mayis Stadium to watch a Turkish Super League match after making it through the stringent Police checks (even with a Fisherman's Friend in your mouth !!!). Mummy Kankie did it and we are all proud of her.

The only down-side is that she didn't make it to a match where the Stadium was full, ie, an ANKARAGUCU match !!! However, she promised me that she would rectify that situation on her next visit. Always assuming that ANKARAGUCU are still in the Super League of course !!!

On behalf of everyone who met you this time Carmel, I would like to say that it was a pleasure for all of us to have been in your company. You are a great lady and we look forward to your next visit.

Happy landings down-under. All the best from Eski Kanka Jim

  1. You are forgetting that Ole Kanka Jose brought his old man to a Gencler match (when we beat Galatasaray 2-1) and then Viking Kanka Jens brought his lovely mother to a match last year as well. I can't remember who we played but I know we won. With Gencler's victory on Saturday that makes it three victories when parents are around.

In other words, bring them parents along people!!!

On another note, took Mummy Kankie Carmel to the airport today (Sunday) only to discover that her flight was actually supposed to have been on Saturday at 2:40 p.m.

On Saturday at 2:40 p.m. we were of course in the Chopin getting ready to head to the stadium.

No hassles though getting her onto the flight but she said going to the footy was definately worth it.

  2. Why do parents only come to Gencler matches I wonder ???

Is it perchance that we ANKARAGUCU hooligans are too dangerous and nobody loves us.... boo hoo hoo ???!!! or..... is it because of Eski Kanka's uncouth language when he can't control himself ???!!!

    Mmmmmmm....... an interesting thought !!!

  3. Aye, Blue Nose Kanka Tam is spot on.

I have refereed Big Tam a few times here in Ankara when he was `stopper` for the British Embassy team.

However, Big Tam is a wee bit clueless about the Laws of the Game. He thinks `stopper` means STOP at all cost !! He was only a whisker away from receiving a red card from me a guid few times !!

Aye, he is aggressive alright, but after all, he has a good excuse......... he comes from GLASGOW !!!!!
