HERE WE GO !

Greetings Kankas and Kankies

Oz Kanka mentioned in the previous post that the fixture list for season 2008-2009 has finally been released by the TFF. Better late than never !!

As I said before in a previous post, we have Sportswriters Cup business first on the weekend of 15 to 17 August and then league action begins the following weekend 22 to 24 August.

I should just mention before I go any further that there has been a name change for one of the team’s in the league. Genclerbirligi OFTAS has changed the name of their team to Hacettepe. I believe this was their orginal name in days gone by, and I’m sure Oz Kanka can either confirm this or put me right.

ANKARAGUCU’s fixtures for the 1st half of the season are as follows –

23 – 24 August - Konya (A)
30 – 31 August - Trabzon (H)
13 – 14 September - Gaziantep (A)
20 – 21 September - Istanbul BBS (H)
27 – 28 September - Hacettepe (A)
3-4-5 October - Genclerbirligi (H)
18 – 19 October - Sivas (A)
25 – 26 October – Kayseri (H)
1 – 2 November – Kocaeli (A)
8 – 9 November – Bursa (H)
15 – 16 November - Eskisehir (A)
21-22-23 November – Fenerbahce (H)
29 -30 November – Ankaraspor (A)
5-6-7 December - Galatasaray (H)
12-13-14 December - Besiktas (A)
20 – 21 December - Denizli (A)
24 – 25 January 2009 - Antalya (H)

Please see Oz Kanka’s previous post for the dates of the Turkish Cup matches from the Section Stage to the Final.

For the ANKARAGUCU Kankas dreaming of a visit to Bursa and Antalya this season, I’m afraid we shall have to exercise patience. I estimate that the match in Bursa will be in March 2009 and the final match of the season will be in Antalya in May or June 2009.

Let’s bring it on, and sing all together …………….. Here we go, here we go, here we go, Here we go-ohhh here we go !!!!

ANKARAGUCU - PRE-SEASON PROGRAMME

Greetings Kankas and Kankies.

ANKARAGUCU’s pre-season programme was reported in the Hurriyet this morning but the venues for the matches in Turkey were not given. The matches prior to their Germany camp in Augsburg will obviously be just a `work out` to give all the players a `run out`.

Also, the match against Boluspor conjures up memories of the `epic` Turkish Cup Final between the two in 1980. A match which Oz Kanka in particular relishes informing new kankas about !!

19 July - Boluspor
21 July – Istanbul BBS and Antalyaspor

27 July – Energie Cottbus
29 July – Dynamo Bucharest
31 July – BC AichachI
1 August – Munich Turk Karmasi
3 August – AEK
5 August – Limmasol

10 August – Eskisehirspor
15 to 17 August – TSYD Sportswriters Cup in Ankara

It was also reported in the Hurriyet this week that the ANKARAGUCU Kombine Tickets (Season Tickets) were now on sale at YTL 150 for Maraton. However, I have it on good authority from Maniac Kanka and The Anti-X website that the Anti-X Group are contesting the `high price` and trying to negotiate a reduction. (no comments please about the difference in price between the Season Tickets of ANKARAGUCU and ManYoo !!).

I will keep you advised when a decision has been made and when to go ahead and purchase the Kombine ticket.

I will also try and keep you up-to-date with results in Germany.

A PLEA TO CEMAL AYDIN

Greetings Kankas and Kankies.

OK, so he doesn’t read our Blog, but…. perhaps someone out there will tell Mr Aydin what we are thinking ??!!

As you saw in the comments section of the previous post, Desperate Dan Kanka has given us the news which we didn’t want to hear …………. Kirita is on his way out. All I can say to that is ….. we wish you all the best in the future Kirita, and as I said when we met last time, I think you are going to be a successful coach in the future. Perhaps you will return to ANKARAGUCU one day in the future and take us forward ??!!

However, what does that say about Cemal Aydin ? Is he saying that it is good for the Club to release a player of Kirita’s ability and yet keep someone like …. say, Jaba ??!! No comment or answer necessary !!

I mentioned in a previous post that Bebbe was on his way to Istanbul BBS. Well, apparently that is not a done deal yet. So, perhaps there is still hope on the horizon ?? Ever the optimist I can hear you say !!

I am not trying to tell Hakan Kutlu or Hakan Keles how to organise the team, but I think I am qualified to give some advice to Cemal Aydin about the rights and the wrongs about footie. For example, how about this for a line-up in our first league match ?

Yilmaz, Bebbe and Gokhan …………. Up front
Erdogan, Cem Can and Duruer ………… in midfield
Tolga, El Yasa, Ilkem and Moine Chaabani ……..in defence

Like it ? Yes ............. but is Cemal Aydin listening ???

Could this be the team to break into the Top 4, or, is Cemal Aydin content to finish in mid-table EVERY season ?? Where is our ambition ??

The Round Ball in Ankara wants Yooro Footie back in Ankara and Eski Kanka has shown the way.

Do it !!!

ANKARAGUCU - BRING IT ON !!

Greetings Kankas and Kankies.

As reported in The Hurriyet this morning, ANKARAGUCU’s season begins today.

Today is the 1st day of pre-season training. A painful experience for those who haven’t looked after themselves during the close season !

Then the team head off to Germany for their Summer Camp and some `friendlies` on 26 July and will return to Ankara on 6 August.

As I mentioned is a recent post, there has been lots of new faces appearing on the scene and the complete list of ANKARAGUCU’s squad is as follows –

Serkan Kirintili
Yusuf Soysal
Umutcan Yuksel
El Yasa Sume
Engin Akturk
Tolga Dogantez
Burak Ozsarac
Ilkem Ozkaynak
Ridvan Okus
Gokhan Emrecikson
Tevfik Altindag
Ibrahm Ege
Onur Acar
Barbaros Barut
Stelian Kirita
Cem Can
Burak Karaduman
Mert Erdogan
Abdulkadir Kayali
Murat Erdogan
Murat Duruer
Jaba
Mehmet Yilmaz
Moine Chaabani
Mustafa Aydin

I am pleased to see that our two stalwart full backs from last season, El Yasa and Tolga, have been retained. Also, it appears that Kirita’s proposed move to Kocaeli has been shelved …… good !! Other pleasing news is that two of our best performers last season, Murat Erdogan and Gokhan, have also been retained.

As for the Sportswriters Cup on 15 – 17 August, I say …………. bring it on !!!

All the best from upbeat Eski Kanka Jim
