Almost forgot to post

Denizlispor 2 - 0 Genclerbirligi

Gencler coach Thomas Doll said after the match that some of the Gencler players appear to have already gone on holidays. Much like me really.

  1. Agree with Mr Doll. It's not over till it's over.

OK, there was nothing at stake, but surely professional pride would make Gencler play like we know they can.

For example, I fully expect Ankaragucu players to show the pride on Sunday and I'm hoping that there is no 'behind the scenes' skulduggery !!

  2. This time last year we were fighting off relegation. This year we are fighting off boredom.

  3. to cheer you all up, here's a new football team with a funky logo, a perky name and a positive outlook on life. but no equestrian branch. none, I tell you.

  6. Yes, and interestingly it was all over the sports page of the Main Hurriyet newspaper this morning when news of Ankaragucu is usually confined to the Ankara Section.

A ploy from Istanbul to de-motivate the Ankaragucu players me wonders ??!!

More bad news that Vittek will not be playing on Sunday. Lemerre will probably ask Ilhan Parlak to accept the responsibility of leading the line.

  7. Bad news indeed. Hopefully, 100 buses of supporters from Bursa and Nadeem and Rebecca's presence will infuse the team with whatever it is they may need to pull this off.

While Gençler fans are apparently dying of boredom, we are most certainly not.

I am definitely psyched for this.
