ANKARAGUCU – INCOMING TRANSFERS ……. AT LAST !!

Greetings Kankas and Kankies.

You will recall my post last week when I announced that two new singings had arrived from Trabzonspor, ie, Abdulaziz and Hasan Ucuncu.

Since then, there has been further activity in the right direction, ie, incoming !

It was announced yesterday that Ufukhan Bayraktar has arrived from Diyarbakirspor. He played previously for Trabzonspor and I understand he is an attacking midfielder.

A further three transfers were announced today –

Ismail Bouzid from Toulouse, who is a stopper.

Bora Kork from Sakaryaspor, who is a goalkeeper (he played for Besiktas previously).

Ozan from Bucaspor, who is a left winger.

There isn’t much I can say about these new singings at present. As always, ‘the proof of the pudding will be in the eating’ and time will tell if these moves prove to be a success !

I think the main point to make is that Hakan Kutlu recognises the need to strengthen the squad and correct the weaknesses which have been exposed in the first half of the season.

However, I still remain worried about our lack of firepower up front. Yes, it’s true that Jaba is a class act, but his lack of height puts him at a distinct disadvantage in aerial attacks. Mehmet and Iglesias haven’t done the biz and this is an area where we have suffered. Perhaps Hakan has something up his sleeve on this subject ?!

It will be interesting to see what the starting line-up will be next weekend against Antalyaspor.

In the meantime, it’s now a case of …….. wait and see !

All the best from Eski Kanka Jim

  1. AS a GS fan, I remember Bouzid was driving us mad with his play. I think only positive contribution he can bring in is the competition in centre-back position.
Or he may prove me wrong and start a new chapter in his career, at the he was the star of the team in Kaiserslautern before coming to GS

  2. Thanks for the info Sinan. Yes, I should have picked up on the fact that he was ex-CimBom.

I have a feeling that Hakan Kutlu will pair him alongside Moine as the two principal stoppers. This will leave full backs El Yasa and Burak to forage forward in attack at times.

We will see, and I will no doubt be giving an assessment of the newcomers as the 2nd half of the season unfolds.

  3. I think Bouzid played about 2 games for GS then we realized how rubbish he was.....

  4. Maybe it's time he had a new lease of life ?

For example, when Hibs sold Derek Riordan to Celtic a few years ago I was pig sick along with thousands of other Hibbies. Well, he didn't quite fit-in there and was invariably sitting 'on the bench'.

He returned to Hibs a few months ago and .... hey presto .... he's back to his deadly striking self again. This time home to stay we hope !

As you know, Ankaragucu fanatiks are born optimists so we will give 'Boozy' time to settle-in and hope that he does a Riordan for us !!

  6. Hope you are right Sinan. De Nigris is well known in Ankara and will surely be a potent strike partner for Jaba.

Hey,..... maybe Hakan Kutlu reads our Blog ! I have said thousands of times .... well ... at least hundreds of times that we need to score goals !!!

All Ankaragucu fanatiks are praying for salvation and perhaps it has come at last ??!!

  8. Great news. Perhaps our saviour, Kenan Evren, said a prayer to God and made it happen ??!!

Let's see Ankaragucu back to their normal attacking mode and some goals and victorreeeeez !

Could we perchance still qualify for the UEFA Cup me asks ?? Only joking !!!
