It was quite a nice piece and one little bit caught my eye:
Whilst I assume the "rooting interest" the writer states is not in the Australian sense of the term, he pretty much summed up a few of our own United Statesian Kankas.
American college students spending a semester abroad in Europe are returning with an appreciation for, and a rooting interest in, continental football.
You can check out the rest of the article here
In the meantime, the Kankas will be watching the England-USA match on Saturday 9:30 pm at the Red Lion Club. USAers are more than welcome.
Yeah, have to agree there. Our Yankee Kankas have surprised and impressed us all with their fanatikal support of Ankaragucu and Gencler, together with their hatred of the Istanbul 3.
ReplyDeleteI was planning to watch the Ingallind v Yanks match in the Red Lion Club too, but ..... I have been summoned to appear at The Beer Bus Bar on Saturday night by Battle Damaged Damon and Connect Steve Kankas.
The fact that Steve is planning to bring a host of Bilkent Babes had nothing to do with my venue change decision ! Honisssssssst !!!
Well all I can say on tonight's game is that everybody in Ireland hopes that England win and progress from their group. And then lose to someone like Portugal on penalties in the quarter final!Again!
ReplyDeleteDublin Neil.
I have a better idea Neil. Ingallind to lose to Australia by 6-0 yessssssssss !!!
ReplyDeleteGreeno, England's No 1!
ReplyDeleteDublin Neil.
We in Scotland still remember a similar blunder from Frank Haffey against Ingallind many moons ago.
ReplyDeleteSo, I suppose that it will take many moons to pass before Greeno's blunder is forgotten by the Ingallish !!!
Please excuse me while I have another titter and snigger !!!
