Ankaragucu return to the capital with all 3 points!

Ankaragucu and Gumushanespor both continued their Championship winning for this afternoon after hard fought victories which keep things as they were at the top of the table. Ankaragucu won 1-0 at Eyupspor, while Gumushanespor came back from a goal down to beat Kirklarelispor 3-1.

Team - Korcan Celikay, Sercan Balci, Sezgin Coskun, Cenk Kaplan, Mehmet Tasci, Harun Aydin, Ferhat Culcuoglu, Orhan Gulle, Omer Bozan, Erhan Senturk, Kenan Özer

Subs - Altay Bayindir, Alihan Kubalas, Hursit Tasci, Emre Sahin, Cagatay Ceken, Emre Kara, Enes Kubat

With the TFF again showing their incompetence and playing this round of matches at 4pm midweek when everyone was at work, it was left to John and Harun to keep us up to date with what was happening in Istanbul.

According to John it was a pretty scrappy match with Ankaragucu looking the better side and the Eyupspor keeper making some good saves to keep them in the match.

With Gumushanespor winning 3-1 the pressure was on Ankaragucu to take all three points, and thankfully the team delivered. Kenan Özer scored his first goal for the club after the initial free kick was saved from Bayburt, he was on hand to fire the rebound into the net.

Special mention goes to the Ankaragucu fans who made the trip, with over 1,000 fans cheering the team onto victory.

Next up for Ankaragucu is a home match with Etimesgut next Wednesday night, while Gumushanespor have a tough trip at Karsiyaka. It looks like it's going to go right down to the wire with there now being a two horse race.

  1. Thanks for the report Nadeem, and sighs of relief all round as the late winner goes in to keep Ankaragucu in the title race.

Harun and I are hoping to watch the match next Wednesday. I will go straight to Kizilay from work to meet up with Harun. Can anyone else make it ?
