Greetings Kankas and Kankies.
Ankara's `Big Two` are off to Austria for their summer camp and some pre-season `friendlies`.
Genclerbirligi flew out of Ankara yesterday (15 July) for a 12 day camp. They will play Cek Republic team Boleslav, Ingallind's Arsenal (never heard of them !!!), Germany's FC Koln (CimBom drew 0-0 with them last night) and Ingallind's Plymouth Argyle (never heard of them either !!!).
ANKARAGUCU will fly out today, also for a 12 day camp. They will play Olimpiakos and Panionios of Greece, Brasov of Slovakia and Brasov of Austria.
I reported in a previous post that ANKARAGUCU was scheduled to play Watford, but it seems that match has been kicked into touch.
Further details and scores from the above matches will be posted when known.
All the best from Eski Kanka Jim
EDIT: The Genclerbirligi - Arsenal match will be shown on Fox TV (Digiturk channel 26) on Thursday night 8pm.
Sir Eski, I am in Turkey from 31-7 till 20-8.. We could meet somewhere in that period if possible.
ReplyDeleteGood news Safak.
ReplyDeleteThis is not up on the Blog yet, but it will be in a day or two.
Maniac Kanka, Yankee Kanka and I are planning to go to Bursa to see ANKARAGUCU play in a friendly on 4 August. Exact details of travel not decided yet.

If you can't make it, I can tell you that ANKARAGUCU's first league match will be the following weekend away to Melih Gokcek Spor. So, that match will probably be out at Yenikent Stadium in Sincan. Ticket prices will no doubt be YTL 200 !! We will have to wait and see for details.
The following weekend we are at home to Denizlispor.
Look forward to hearing your thoughts.
Correction to original post.....
ReplyDeleteANKARAGUCU's opponents are -
Brasov of Slovakya and
Aixan of Austria
I've got bad news, which actually deserves a separate post here. Which is, Genclerbirligi will not issue any season card this year. I called the club to ask about the 'kombine' prices this year, and got this response.
ReplyDeleteSeems like Cavcav was pissed off by our constant rebuttals. With this step, he got the third spot from Kenan Evren on my top hated list, after Melih Gokcek and Dick Cheney.
Sad, so sad.
Good news and bad news...
ReplyDeleteFirst the good. Safak has been in touch and he will be meeting the kankas in Ankara in time for the first league match. Details later.
Second the bad. Agree with three of the people on Ertank's `hate list`, but not Kenan Evren.
I met this gentleman twice and can assure you that he is a real gentleman. Not only did he save Turkey from plunging into chaos in 1979/1980, he is also a friend to ANKARAGUCU and for those reasons he will be remembered as a real hero in Turkey !!!
Yes. They aren't going to issue season tickets. Cavcav is surely trying to prove that he doesn't pickle his money.
ReplyDeleteThe way Cavcav treats us fans I'm surprised anyone shows up to Gencler games.
So it looks like we are going to have to wait in line for tickets for every match. As Ertank said... sad, so sad.
The season hasn't started in Scotland and Hibs have sold over 10,000 season tickets and will no doubt surpass last season's total of 12,000 very soon.
ReplyDeleteMoney in the bank for a footie club means planning for the future can be a reality.
When will ANKARAGUCU and Genclerbirligi realise this basic economic fact and join the 21st Century ??!!
There is also the matter of loyal fans to consider. Can you imagine the chaos at the white boxes for the local derby this season ??!!
