DON'T TAKE YOUR EYE OFF THE BALL !!

Greetings Kankas and Kankies.

Having just watched the demolition of Besiktas in Liverpool tonight I can say with authority that Liverpool were bloody lucky ! What ??? Read on ......

Besiktas were never in the match because their eyes were elsewhere ! What are you talking about I can hear you all say ??

Simply this....... their eyes were never on this match. There is an even greater prize than beating Liverpool at Anfield or even winning the European Cup ! Yes, my friends..... read on for the real answer....

Besiktas eyes were quite clearly focused on the 16th of January 2008 when they know they have to come to 19 Mayis Stadium in the Turkish Cup and take on one of the only teams in Yooro Footie who remain unbeaten at home........ ANKARAGUCU !!!

It is quite clear to me that this make-or-break match will be the pinnacle of the Besiktas season and tonight was just a (run out) or prelude to the BIG ONE on 16 January.

I say ....... bring them on and let's do a Liverpool to them...... yesssssssss !!!!

All the best from The Oracle .... Eski Kanka Jim

  1. I haven't laughed so much for a long time. 8-0 is apparently a record loss in the so-called champion's league.

It seems as if the Besiktas chairman's threat to play the youth team against Sivas this weekend could turn out out to be a very good move, after all, the senior team are clearly a bunch of hopeless jokes.

  4. Dear Fenerfan, that red dot thing disappeared about eight years ago.

But I understand what you are talking about. I'm sure RTUK will never allow a replay ever to be shown on the grounds that it may violate Article 301.

  6. By the way,
I only know about that red dot on the screen of Turkish TV shows all those years ago because I was waiting up so I could telephone my family back in Australia. I would like to point out now that Tutti Frutti was never my favourite show.

At the same time though I did often wonder where on earth they found the contestants and why they would be willing to take their clothes off. As far as I could see they weren't making much money out of it.

Sorry for flooding the comments section, I'd be happy if you guys can combine all of my comments.

Why did Besiktas lose that badly?

Could it be perhaps they did not hear the starting whistle of the game? :D

  11. I've heard that some in Turkey are now calling Besiktas "the eight ball" (as in the game of pool). Makes sense: black and white and branded forever with the number eight.

Just out of curiosity, I looked up the expression "behind the eight ball" and found the following: A difficult position from which it is unlikely one can escape. Sounds like an apt discription of their match with Liverpool.

What was the big difference between their first match with Liverpool and the second? Well, apart from the eight balls playing like crap, I noticed two differences: Crouch and Benayoun (sp?). In Istanbul, Crouch came on with only about ten minutes left in the match, and, if I'm not mistaken Benayoun was not starting that match either.

I think Crouch provides a lesson here for Ankaragucu. Jaba is a class player, no doubt about it, but we need some height in front of the goal. Just an idea.

  12. Wise comments from Battle Damaged Kanka. OK, so I have an idea for Hakan Kutlu and Cemal Aydin....

Bring back Umut Bulut and Ceyhun from their holiday on the Black Sea and put them where they belong, ie, in the ANKARAGUCU team yessssss !!!
