Ankaragucu vs Besiktas Match Preview !

Monday night will see Ankaragucu travel to Istanbul as we take on Besiktas. Both teams lost their opening match and will be hoping to get their first win of the season under their belt. It will be a very difficult game for Ankaragucu but anything is possible.

Last season Besiktas won 4-0 in Istanbul, we had a goal disallowed that night which would have given us the lead, but the referee got it wrong and Besiktas went on to win. Ankaragucu won 1-0 at home in the next game thanks to an early goal from Serdar Ozkan.

Besiktas have a number of new players, Mustafa Pektemek who will be well known by the Gencler Kankas and Brazilian defender Sidnei to name a few. Besiktas are a very flamboyant side with talented players like Ricardo Quaresma, Simao and Manuael Fernandes. Hugo Almeida will need to be watched as the striker knows where the net is. Besiktas lost 2-1 away at Eskisehirspor last weekend and will be disappointed with their start.

Ankaragucu started with a disappointing 2-1 home defeat against Mersin, Jim gave us our match report and the highlights also showed that we weren't good enough and Mersin deserved the win. Ziya Dogan will have worked the players hard this week and the players should be sharper. I would expect him to make a couple of changes to the starting line up as well with Tonia and Serdar coming in to start the game.

Prediction for the match is a Besiktas win, unfortunately with so many of our Key players having left, this is a huge task for the players.

Team I would start with would be Senecky in goal, Back four of Ugur, Ediz, Rajnoch and Ishak, midfield 3 of Kagan, Theo and Hurriyet, With Tonia and Serdar on the wings supporting Ergin Keles up front.

  1. I'm hoping you are wrong about the impending loss, but you are probably right. You are, after all, the Gücü Guru, Nadeem. :)

A shrewd match preview from Nadeem.

I certainly hope you are right about Serdar and Tonia starting. I don't think we have seen the best of Ergin yet, and with the proper support, he could turn out to be a match winner this season.

A lot will also be expected from Hurriyet and Weeksie to support the defence AND channel forward in support of the attack when necessary.

An intriguing match to look forward to me thinks.

lets hope that besiktas will use all their energy in maccabi match, maybe afterwards our hopes would flourish again and a possible Ankaragucu win would stirr wholee ankara up. thanks for the good report Nadeem. and in addition to your ideal squad we should use our homemade(!) player m.duruer from time to time.

Yes Onur, I'm all for encouraging players from the Youth Team to break into the 1st team if they have the wherewithal.

However, I don't think Murat Duruer's position is left full-back, left midfield or attacking left winger. No, I've got a better position for him ...........

we can use him to keep one of the seat's warm on the bench so that when we make a substitution, the player coming off can sit in it. Duruer can then move to another seat and keep that one warm and so on ! What do you think ???

btw, forgot to mention that Trabzon had a fantastic win in the Champions League last night away to Inter with a 1-0 win.

The only reason I mention it is because Sapara and Vittek came on in the 2nd half. They have obviously integrated well into the team.

Coming on at the San Siro is a world apart from coming on at the Saray Sports Complex for a Baskent Kupa match for Ankaragucu ...... eh ??!!

Good luck to them both and .... Trabzon.

  8. Agree with Onur in that we need one home grown player, With Umut Kurt injured it leaves Murat as the only player eligible. He just doesnt cut it for me though.

Great win last night for Trabzon, well done to sapara and vittek

Wow ! I've just watched Besiktas (can't call them Beshiktrash tonight !!) do a demolishion job on Maccabi ..... 5-1.

Jekyll and Hide ? Yes. The whole team was full-on tonight, especially in the 2nd half when Maccabi ran out of ideas.

Quaresma, Fernandes and Almeida were outstanding and I'm sure Messrs Rajnoch and Co are going to be very busy next Monday night.

If I was Ziya Bey I think I might employ a 6-5-0 line up !!!!

However, we'll be there, as ever, to try and out-shout the Ankara Besiktas 'fans' in The Chopin !

  11. I'm with Onur. After Thursday night's performance, I'm hoping BJK are just too fatigued to play again like they did against Tel Aviv. Otherwise...

    CORRECTION -

Just noticed in The Hurriyet this morning (Sunday) that Ankaragucu's midweek match at home to Sivas has been moved from Wednesday to Thursday, presumably at the same KO time of 8pm.

Gencler travel to Eskisehir on Wednesday night, but not sure of KO time.

  13. After watching last night's match between Levante and Real Madrid, I can only hope that Ankaragücü can pull off a similar upset against another team full of Portuguese players.
