Istanbulspor 1-2 Ankaragucu match report!
Ankaragucu tonight fought against adversity to claim all 3 points in Istanbul with a fantastic 2-1 win over Istanbulspor. Despite having only played on Friday in a hard fought win over Adanaspor, the Ankaragucu fought through the tiredness to deliver and emphatic win for the 500 strong travelling support including our very own Maniac Harun who met President Yiginer.
Team - Altay, Erdem, Alihan, Yusuf, Ferhat, Arif, Sedat, Abdulkadir, Enes, Ilhan, Umut Nayir
Subs - Korcan, Kenan, Kehinde, Gencer, Mahmut, Mehmet, Ahmet, Lukasz
Their were a few raised eyebrows and angry reactions when the Ankaragucu team was announced with Kenan dropping to the bench and Ilhan Parlak starting in his place. Ilhan however would have the last laugh.
Istanbulspor started the game brightly and passed the ball well while Ankaragucu looked sluggish and couldn’t get a foot on the ball. The first chance of the game came for Istanbulspor when Mehmet was put through on goal but he chipped his shot over Altay but wide of the post.
Next up was a shot from the edge of the box from Zafer but Altay produced a brilliant save to tip the ball over the bar. Mehmet Celik then produced a wonderful pass for Cajic but he somehow shot wide with just Altay to beat.
Into the second half and again it was Istanbulspor on the front foot. A good ball to the back post for Onur Kolay who volleyed his shot but Altay again made a fantastic save to keep the score at 0-0.
With their first chance of the game Ankaragucu would take the lead with a brilliant goal from Ilhan Parlak. A great ball into the box from Erdem was met by Gencer whose overhead kick fell to Ilhan who in turn volleyed his shot into the top corner. The Ankaragucu fans erupted and Ilhan celebrated with them in style.
It took Istanbulspor only 7 minutes to find the equaliser, a lovely ball out Cajic through on goal and he beautifully chipped Altay to make it 1-1 with 10 minutes to go.
Just when it looked to be heading for a draw up stepped Lanre Kehinde to play hero of the day. Another fantastic cross from Erdem with his 15th assist of the season for Kehinde who met the ball with a brilliant diving header to make it 2-1 Ankaragucu and send the fans wild!!
A poor first half performance, but Ankaragucu showed great spirit for the 3 points and climb back up into 2nd. Next up is a home match on Sunday with fierce rivals Eskisehirspor in what should be an absolute cracker at the 19 Mayis Stadium.
