This season has not been too good for Hibs despite winning their first league game. 2 draws and 4 defeats followed plus early exits from Europe and the League cup all contributed towards manager John Hughes throwing in the towel.
So the search for a new manager got under way with a host of names being thrown into the pot. The usual list of managers currently out of work added to by some more colourfull names from Europe had the fans talking.
It also got the players fired up because they finally won another league game last Saturday, 2-1 at home against Kilmarnock. Can not say it was fully deserved but at least they got the breaks that had deserted them over the last 6 weeks or so.
Anyway a new manager was finally announced on Monday, Colin Calderwood decided to move from being Newcastles No.2 to be his own man at Easter Road. Colin has had some success in the lower leagues in England and has talked a good game since taking up the post in Edinburgh.
Now is the time to 'Walk the Walk' Colin!

Just in case you hadnt heard......
ReplyDeleteDarius Vassell signed for Leicester City today, and their new manager,Sven Goran Eriksson.
Dublin Neil.
Thanks for the info Neil, and I'm sure I speak for all the kankas in wishing Vassell success at Leicester. I'll be watching their results now.
ReplyDeleteAs for Mr Calderwood, I wish him success too. He has inherited a good squad of players. What he has to do, and quick, is harness the talent and motivate them.
From what Hibbie Kanka Athole told me recently, all was not well in the dressing room and training ground when Mr Hughes was manager.
There is a fine line to be walked being manager and coach and it is to be hoped that Mr Calderwood has the necessary qualities to bring success to this great club.
Rome was not built in a day, but the fans and directors will want to see some positive signs ...... soon !
Sunday ......
ReplyDeleteNot a great start for Mr Calderwood who now knows that he has a job on his hands.
The Hibs defence was posted missing on 4 occasions yesterday and this sort of performance is unacceptable.
All eyes will be on the team .... and manager ...next weekend at Tannadice.
