EYEIRRRRRLINNNDD !

Greetings Kankas and Kankies.

True enough, this is an Ankara football website, but ............. hey ........ wait a minute ...... don't we have some Eyeirrrrish Kankas, ie, Paddy Kanka Paul and Dublin Kanka Neil ?!

So, apart from Genclerbirligi's result against Beshiktrash last week, we haven't had much to cheer about so far this season. Therefore ........ let's put our hands together and give the Irish a cheer for 'almost' qualifying for Yooro 2012. I'm sure it's going to be a done deal in Dublin in the return leg and great to see those boys in green there.

After all, would we, or could we, support Ingallind ???? Nay nay nivvvvirrrrrr !!!!

Well done Ireland. Along with Paddy Kanka and Dublin Kanka, we will support you there next summer.

All the best from Eski Kanka Jim

Gerrrrrupp Owwadat!Nice one Jim and thanks.Great result last night in Estonia.I will be at the second leg at Lansdowne Road on Tuesday night for what surely will be a party atmosphere.
The thing with this Irish team is that individually they dont really look much, but as a collective they are formidable. No team in Poland/Ukraine next summer will be more committed, brave or honest. In international football these days that goes a long way.For someone who has achieved so much I think this is up there with Trapatoni's biggest successes when you consider the limited resources at his disposal.
Another nice thing about Tuesday night now.Every other qualification for a World Cup or Euro Championships has been clinched on foreign soil (Euro '88 thanks to Gary Mackay's winner for Scotland v Bulgaria, Italia '90 with a win in Malta,USA '94 away to Northern Ireland, and Japan/Korea 2002 in a play off away in Iran) so this will be the first time ever that our qualification has been confirmed here in Dublin.Barring of course the greatest comeback since Elvis Presley's '68 tour!

    Dublin Neil.

Thanks for the kind words Jimmy! It was a great game for us, managed to get goals at key stages, and make it easier for ourselves. And it was a nice change to get through a qualifier without a sob story / hard done by incident!
But I don't want to jinx it, roll on Tuesday and sealing the deal. I'm sure Gio will keep all focused on the job.
    Fingers crossed!
    Cheers
    Paddy Kanka

  3. yes well done to Ireland and England, its a shame Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland yet again miss out. Wales look like they are improving though.

For me Craig Levein should have been sacked for not getting us through that group. Playing no striker away to the czech republic cost us big time.

I'm sure we will see Eyeirrrlind and Croatia stroking the ball around tonight and frustrating their opponents. Should be a carnival atmosphere in Dooooblin tonight. Enjoy it Neil.

I'll be watching Turkey trying to salvage some pride after their heavy defeat last weekend.

In The Hurriyet this morning it shows (olde boy) Umut Bulut in the starting line-up for the first time. If true, congratulations to him and, as usual, I'm sure he will give his all.

All the best from Eski Kanka Jim
