Aberdeen 2-2 Hibernian

Hibs and Aberdeen will have to fight it out again in the Scottish cup 3rd round match after ending even at two apiece. It was probably a fair result although both teams had chances to win the game.

For Hibs the game ended with Chris Killen damaging his achilies and will take no part in football for the rest of the season. Hibs do not really have someone who can hold the ball up as well as Chris although maybe a slightly different style will be required.

Hibs opened the scoring just before halftime after having to defend for twenty minutes. After passing up a couple of chances to go two up in the second half, Hibs then lost a goal. A great cross from Clark was met by the veteren Craig Brewters head and that was that.

Not to be knocked off their stride Hibs regained the lead through a great goal from Chris Killen. He took a long ball on his chest 10 yards out before spinning and volleying past the keeper.

Hibs looked to be holding on but Aberdeen finally scored in the 88th minute. Again Brewster won a header in the Hibs box, this time knocking down for Nicholson to score.

All set for next Thursday then but this time the battle will be at Easter Road which may give Hibs the edge.

  1. Yes, perhaps a rather fortunate result for Aberdeen, but then....

Those who live to fight today, live to fight another day !!

All credit to them therefore for forcing a replay.

Of course it will be difficult to play without our top scorer and I wish Chris Killen a speedy recovery.

However, Mr Collins now has a chance to find an alternative playing pattern using the likes of Fletcher, Morrow and Shiels to name but three.

Good luck to the Hibees on Thursday night and yet another cup run to follow.
