Ankaragucu vs Eskisehirspor Match Preview !

This weekends match will see Ankaragucu travel to Eskisehirspor as we try and make it two wins in a row. Reports today seem to suggest there will be no travelling fans for this match due to trouble between the two sets of fans in the past.

Eskishirspor have had a dissapointing start to the season, and find themselves in 12th Position. Consistency has been a problem, with wins of late at home to Genclerbirligi and away to Karabukspor, and defeats at home to Manisaspor and away to Fenerbahce. Last weeks match at Fenerbahce saw them play a big part of the game with ten men, they were unlucky not to take a point after Volkan pulled off a fantastic save from Dede late on.

Last season saw both meetings end in a draw, The first game ended 0-0 in Eskisehir and the return game in Ankara finished 2-2 with Fatih Tekke and Serdar Ozkan (pictured above) with the goals.

Ankaragucu grabbed there first win of the season at the weekend with a 2-1 win at home to Karabukspor as we saw in Jim's Report. Young Atilla Garhan and Tonia Tisdell with the goals. Young Atilla has come in and done a good job, and we look a lot better with Tonia out wide and Atilla through the middle. Hopefully Serdar Ozkan will be back for the game to. Two other youngsters made an appearance at the weekend in Umit Sozen and Ishak Dogan who both showed some nice touches. Its good to see the youngsters get some playing time this season.

Eskisehirspor have some good players in there side, and our defence will need to be at there best with the likes of Diomansy Kamara, Mehmet Yildiz and Batuhan Karedeniz up front, and Rodrigo Tello and Veysal Sari dangerous coming forward from midfield. They only need a couple of wins on the bounce and they are back in the chase for a champions league place. Kris Boyd who couldn't stop scoring in Scotland and England cant even get in there squad, which shows how capable there attack is.

Again I will refrain from making a prediction, as it brought us a win last week. A draw would be nice as Dublin Neil said on the Karabuk match report but i think we can go and get the three points if we defend well and take our chances.

Aye, the memories come flooding back. It really is a great pity that this whole sorry story happened, because, like I said in my post of 'that' match, it is a beautiful city and we WERE planning to return there for future matches.

I guess it will be a long time before we can even contemplate it !

Looking to Sunday's match, and I'm with Nadeem again concerning predictions. We should not let our thoughts of last weekend's victory cloud our judgement. Of course, we will go to The Chopin and, as ever, be optimistic for .... some crumbs of comfort !!

  4. Love the old report, seems like you had a blast lol

Some news from today, the club have released Stefan Senecky. The Slovak Goalkeeper never made the number 1 position his own since he came from Ankaraspor and will now look for another club.

Sami Altinuva has confirmed that Ziya Dogan will stay as manager and they will back him. He also said they have short, medium and long term plans for the club and they are working round the clock to make things better.

I know Harun wasnt to sure about him, but i like the way he has done his work so far and hope that he sticks to his word. The last thing we want is another Cemal Aydin or Ahmet Gokcek.

Oh Shit ! That's all we need !

The question now arises ..... who is going to unlock the EsEs defence ??!!

Look like Ziya Bey will take the team there and play for a 0-0 ?!

To lighten the mood here (for Jim anyway) and totally off the subject (sorry) but an old mate of mine has today been appointed the new Hibs manager!Pat Fenlon has moved from Bohemians of Dublin to Edinburgh. He's from the same suburb as myself in Dublin and we would have played against each other throughout our careers, from schoolboy level to moving to England (he went to Chelsea as an apprentice, me to Luton Town) to moving back home and the League of Ireland.I played with Shamrock Rovers, Pat with St Patrick's Athletic. They were more successful than us at the time I must admit. They won a couple of league titles with Brian Kerr as manager.Pat Fenlon's nickname as a player was "Nutsy" due to his penchant for nutmegging opposing players.Wonder do the folk at Easter Road know that yet?!After St Pats Athletic he moved to Shelbourne and won another couple of titles there as player before becoming manager of Shelbourne. They continued their run of success in the domestic league and got to the verge of the Champions League group stages, losing in the third qualifying round to Deportivo La Coruna. He has been manager of Bohemians for the past few years, again winning a league title two years ago. After that the club had major financial problems from which they have yet to recover.
Now Jim, all this positivity comes with a BUT!
Throughout Nutsy's run of success, his teams have tended to play in a style that got results rather than fans. Not the easiest on the eye but effective. And thats really what Hibs need now I suppose.
Its a great move for him, a trip into the unknown really but I'll be very interested to see how it all pans out.
Sorry again for talking off subject but felt Jim would be interested in all this.
Good luck for tomorrow's game in Eskisehir!

    Dublin Neil.

Thanks for the Heads-Up on Pat Fenlon's appointment as the new Hibs Manager Neil.

He's obviously no 'spring chicken' but a man with proven managerial skills. So, I was quite impressed with your 'CV' of him.

His interview on Hibs TV yesterday after the appointment was announced was all about stressing the word 'work'. So, I think the players should prepare for some 'blood, sweat and tears' next week in the Training Ground !

He also stressed that having a grand Stadium and state of the art Training Area is all well and good, but it is results on the pitch that will judge how successful a Club really is.

Fighting talk and let's see how the players respond today in Perth and in the following weeks.

Good luck to him in his task of taking Hibs back to where they should be, ie, at the top of the League !

On a lighter note, I'm sure Father Hanlon (founder of Hibs in 1875) will be smiling down from his seat on the right hand of God and blessing Hibs for going back to their roots !!!

All the best from Eski Kanka Jim
