At last, some good news about Hibs.
Not only have they managed to appoint a manager they have also won a game for the first time since the 10th November.
Mixu Paatelainen has been unvieled as the new Hibs manager after John Collins walked out on the club last month. Mixu had two spells playing for Hibs and will always be remembered for his hattrick against Hearts in our 6-2 win in 2000.
Mixu's first game in charge was Saturdays Scottish Cup match against Inverness. Inverness had beaten Hibs up in Inverness a couple of weeks ago and were favouites to win the Tie even though in was being played in Edinburgh.
The Hibs players responded to big Mixu in the best way by getting back to the free flowing football were used to. A hattrick, this time from Dean Shiels, guided Hibs to a comfortable win. Now that is something I have not had to say in a while.
The only down side to the game was Hibs Morais and Inverness's Maguire being sent off. Both were on a yellow card when they decided to go head to head after a harmless challenge.
Dean Shiels was not really used by John Collins and was on the verge of leaving Hibs in search of a regular game. He is a very popular player with the Hibs fans and hopefully will now get a chance to show what he can do on a regular basis.
Hibs reward for winning their cup tie is a home match against Rangers.
Next Saturday Hibs travel across Edinburgh to play Hearts, both teams had been going through a pretty bad spell but all that seems to be changing just in time.
Hearts played well in their cup tie but were held at home by Motherwell 2-2. This was Motherwells first game since Phil O'Donnel died and turned out to be a match fit to honour Phil.
Hibbee Kanka
Great to see Hibbie Kanka is such high spirits again, and well done the Hibees !
ReplyDeleteI was worried in case Hibs had to play the Mighty East Stirling in the next round, so I'm please that Rangers managed to beat them !!
I say...... bring them on !!!
